Post Op

The following image is a 3D reconstruction of the post-op kidney, created from the CT scans:


The "hole" (the chunk missing from one of the kidneys) is actually scar tissue, which doesn't "perfuse"  during a CT scan.  But, as you can see, there's a good 80% of the kidney left, post-op, performing around 40%* of the combined kidney workload.

In fact, it was this image, that first inspired me to create this website.  When I first saw it in a post-op consultation, I was blown away by it!  Incredible technology.  Worth sharing.  It really shows how much kidney can be saved, and continue to function, even after a complex surgery to remove a complex tumour.
